Purple Heart recipient gives surprise salute
Cincinnati, Ohio - An Army Ranger seriously injured in Afghanistan earned the Purple Heart Award--a medal awarded for wounds received in action against an enemy or as a direct result of an act of the enemy.
When U.S. Army Ranger Cpl. Josh Hargis was presented with the award in his hospital room, he was unconscious.
Or so everyone thought.
But the Army Ranger surprised them all when he raised his hand to salute his commanding officer who had come into the room for the medal presentation.
A doctor even tried to restrain the ranger's injured arm, but the doc lost that battle. The Ranger completed his salute.
