Local Santa heads to Santa school

Brockport, N.Y. -- Little Jim was born a Scott, but he might as well have been a Claus.

"I played Santa Claus for the 6th grade play, at the same time my dad was playing Santa Claus," Jim Scott said.

Call it home schooling.

Jim took that education and ran with it, volunteering his time for groups that like giving as much as he does.

Ive never been able to put a price tag on it, Scott said.

So no one ever gave Santa any formal education, until now.

I saw it on television, Scotts wife, Mary, said.

The two will be packing up the sleigh and heading to Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Michigan.

Charles W. Howard was the original Macys Santa Clause and operated a Santa Claus school in Albion, N.Y.

After 52 years of playing Santa Claus, youre telling me now I have to school! Jim exclaimed while chortling.

While Jim learns, Mary intends to shop.

Some Mrs. Clauses do attend, but thats not my thing, she said.

When the couple returns, not much will change.

Jim will do what hes always done: hell give the gift of Santa.

It helps me get into the Christmas spirit and I pass it on, he said.
