AG drops charges against Bob Wiesner, but case isn’t over

County Executive Maggie Brooks wouldnt talk about the bid rigging charges against her husband, Bob Wiesner.

But a day after he was arrested and escorted into Federal Court in handcuffs, Wiesner proclaimed his innocence.

He also questioned why he wasnt allowed to testify before the grand jury.

That is why the State Attorney Generals Office has agreed to dismiss the charges against Wiesner, to give him the chance to testify before a new grand jury.

They intend to re-present the case.

But Wiesners attorney has asked the judge to dismiss the case because he said the charges are vague and because he claims the way the arrest was handled was politically motivated.

It will be up to a judge to decide whether to allow the case to be presented to a new grand jury or dismiss it.

That decision could come during a court appearance on December 18th.
