Over 18,000 without power in Monroe County
Rochester, N.Y. - RG&E is reporting over 17,000 Monroe County residents are without power Friday afternoon.
More than half of Rochester Gas and Electric customers in Ogden are missing electricty, with 3,496 of their 5,645 homes left powerless as a result of damaging winds.
The same goes for the Town of Greece, where 3,501 customers are in the dark. Chili, Parma, Penfield and Webster each have over 1,000 residences without electricty.
1,114 homes in the City of Rochester and 2,207 in Irondequoit are reportedly without power as of 3 p.m. Friday.
Mark Lynch, president of NYSEG and RG&E, urged customers to stay safe during dangerous weather.
We always encourage our customers to be prepared for dangerous storms and the possibility of service interruptions, said Lynch. Most importantly, we urge them to stay safe.
RG&E said customers should call 1-800-743-1701 and then the company will:
Assess the damage to the electricity delivery system.
Develop a detailed restoration plan.
Make repairs as quickly as possible.
