NY man to be featured on new US stamp
Selkirk, N.Y. (AP) - A New York man who's one of the last Medal of Honor recipients from World War II is included in a new stamp series being launched on Veterans Day.
The U.S. Postal Service officially releases its World War II Medal of Honor stamps during a ceremony Monday in Washington, D.C.
The stamps show two different images of the medal. They'll come in packets of 20 that contain portraits of the 12 Medal of Honor recipients from World War II who were still alive when the stamps were designed. Three have since died.
Among the nine still living is 88-year-old Frank Currey of Selkirk, just south of Albany.
Currey, a native of Hurleyville in Sullivan County, was a 19-year-old private when he received the Medal of Honor for his heroics during the Battle of the Bulge.
