Child abuse suspect had history working with kids

Victor, N.Y. - Ontario County Sheriffs Department is learning new details about the employment record of Sean Smith, the man accused of child abuse at the Jack N Jill daycare center in Victor.

Investigators say Smith has worked at various childcare centers in the Victor area since 1995.

They want to alert families that he has worked at the following locations: The Victor Childcare Center, the now closed The Learning Center, the Victor YMCA, the Mendon Childcare Center and most recently the Jack N Jill Childcare Center.

Smith has worked at Jack N Jill Daycare in Victor for six years and passed a background check prior to being hired, according to the centers owners.

According to the Ontario County District Attorney, 43-year-old Smith was arrested and arraigned on Tuesday evening on charges of first degree sex abuse and sexual contact with an individual less than 11-years old.

The Ontario County Sheriffs Department is asking anyone with concerns to contact the Ontario County Sheriffs Office Criminal Investigations Division at 585-396-4638.
