Canandaigua man arrested for shaking baby

Canandaigua, N.Y. - A Canandaigua man was arrested for hurting a 12-week-old baby.

Ontario County Sheriffs Department said the male infant was brought to Strong Memorial Hospital on December 24 with suspicious injuries. Apparently, the baby was lethargic and refused to eat.

Officials with the Sheriffs office said hospital testing showed that the baby had two different injuries, both similar to the type of injuries violent shaking would produce.

Investigators said Joshua OMailey, 28, confessed to shaking the baby. OMailey was arrested for Reckless Assault and was taken to county jail.

The baby remains hospitalized at Strong.
