Waste Watch Report: Wayne County Elevator

Wayne County, N.Y. -- Last year, a project was set up to help fund the construction of an elevator in Wayne County.

The project received $300,000 through regional councils.

But a 13WHAM Waste Watch report revealed that it was actually a matching grant and the elevator cost was $600,000. It would be built in a two-story county building.

County officials tell 13WHAM that the project is on pace to be completed in late summer.

A consultant team costing the county $20,000 to $30,000 is completing the design and a contractor could be on board next spring.

Officials are optimistic that the will come in under cost.
