Cuomo promotes device that allows parents to monitor teen driving
New York -- Governor Andrew Cuomo OKed an auto insurer's program Wednesday that gives parents the ability to track their child behind the wheel and prevent them from texting while driving.
Esurance offers a device that hooks up to a car and gathers information on route, braking and speed.
Parents can then access all that information via an Esurance website.
What Cuomo highlighted, however, was the devices ability to help prevent distracted driving.
When the car begins to move, the device connects to an app on the drivers smartphone.
That app then tells the phone to put a stop to texting.
