Police ID victim killed in collision with school bus

Murray, N.Y. A Brockport man died Tuesday morning after crashing his car head-on into a school bus in the town of Murray.

Orleans County Sheriffs deputies said Daniel Hollaert Jr., 23, lost control of his car and crashed into a school bus from the Kendall School District on Route 104 near Route 237. The crash happened just after 7:00 a.m.

Hollaert died at the scene.

The bus driver, Harold Barnard, 72, and four students on the bus were taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital, but their injuries are minor.

The students range in age from 11-15.

Below is a statement from Kendal Central School District
A Kendall Central School District school bus carrying four students was involved in an accident with another vehicle this morning near the intersection of Route 237 and Ridge Road.

Our four students and bus driver were taken by ambulance to Strong Hospital as a precaution. Thankfully, their injuries are minor.

We are saddened to learn news that the driver of the other vehicle suffered fatal injuries and we are working with the Orleans County Sheriffs Department as they conduct their investigation.
