Batavia police arrest armed burglars

Batavia, N.Y. - Batavia police arrested two armed burglars following a foot chase Tuesday morning.

According to the Batavia Police Department, a neighbor witnessed the suspects enter through a rear door at 28 Park Ave. after ringing the front doorbell for roughly ten minutes.

Additionally, officers from the Genesee County Sheriffs and New York State Police arrived on scene to set up a perimeter.

According to first responders, the suspects fled the home and ran in different directions, one headed east and the other west.

Officers apprehended Nathaniel Davis, 18, about 100 feet from the home. A frisk search recovered  a loaded hand gun.

The second suspect, Akeem Simmons, 23, was pursued and police determined that he did not leave the perimeter. With the help of off-duty K-9 Officer Thompson, they were able to track the suspect to 48 Ellicott Avenue.

Police said both face possible charges of burglary, possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
