Deputies: Nurse failed to help disabled patient

Geneva, N.Y. - A nurse is accused of failing to take care of a patient with disabilities after he had fallen and broke several bones.

Ontario County sheriff's deputies arrested Dawn Fishback, 41, of Geneva, for falsifying business records and endangering the welfare of a disabled person.

Authorities said Fishback, while working as a nurse in a private residence, failed to respond, in both action and in a report, to her client who fell from his bed and broke his femur, fractured his pelvis, and suffered back and facial injuries.

Deputies said proper care for the victim, who suffers from a rare genetic disease which causes his bones to be brittle, was delayed for 16 hours because of Fishback's actions.
