Penfield district voting on two projects

Penfield, N.Y. -- Penfield Central School District residents are voting on two projects Thursday: one to improve the athletic complex, and the other to increase security at all district buildings.

Improvements to the athletic complex include adding field lighting at the high school. Security upgrades include additional cameras on the exterior and interior of all district buildings. For more detail, you can go to the districts website.

The total cost for the gym and lighting is estimated at $2.8M, which, according to districts website, would result in no tax increase.

The estimated cost for the security upgrades at all district buildings is $3.6 million, which would be paid for using monies from the Districts 2006 Capital Reserve Fund, so there is no tax increase associated with this project, either.

Voting began at 6 a.m. and stays open until 9 p.m. Thursday in Room A-1 at Penfield High School.
