This is a blog written by photojournalist Will Morgan, who covered Colgan Air Flight 3407 five years ago
Five years have passed, but the images of February 12, 2009 are still fresh in my mind. Just being here in Clarence Center tonight has made it real again. Pulling into town 5 years ago and seeing the glow in the sky, the smell of jet fuel, and the thick smoke that filled the town.
All that is obviously gone now, but the memories are not. Just seeing the street signs triggers memories. Things I didn't think about at the time because of adrenaline and confusion. It all seemed like a dream as it was unfolding. I have since spoken with some of my colleagues who were here that night and they have said they felt the same way.
As I sit here at the memorial service I can feel the raw emotion and can see the healing! It's nowhere near complete but it's on it's way! Tonight is a big step for all of us that were here 5 years ago.
