Syracuse drops first game of season

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse mens basketball team finally dropped its first game of the season Wednesday night at the Carrier Dome.

The No. 1 Orange fell to Boston College (7-19, 3-10), which had lost its previous five games, 62-59 in overtime.

The two teams played to a 50-50 tie in regulation before a pair of threes lifted the Boston College in the extra session. The Eagles ran out the closing seconds after Trevor Cooney threw up an air ball on a desperation three.

Syracuse fell to 25-1 overall and 12-1 in the ACC, dropping behind Virginia in the conference standings. Wichita State is the last remaining unbeaten team in the country.

The Orange travels to Durham, N.C. to face No. 5 Duke Saturday night.
