Local natives rock Super Bowl stage

East Rutherford, N.J. -- Two local natives took center stage during the non-football portion of Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday.

Churchville native Renee Fleming became the first opera singer to perform the national anthem at the Super Bowl. Her rendition drew wide praise on social media. Amber Zion, a graduate of RITs National Technical Institute for the Deaf, signed the anthem alongside Fleming.

John Fossitt, a 2001 Gates Chili High School graduate, performed during the halftime show as part of Bruno Mars band. Fossitt is Mars keyboardist.
