Trump headlining CNY GOP event

Syracuse, N.Y. (AP) -- New York City real estate mogul Donald Trump is set to head upstate for a Republican Party event Tuesday.

The reality TV star is scheduled to be in Syracuse for a $100-per-person reception arranged by the Onondaga County Republican Committee.

Several GOP county leaders have been courting Trump to challenge Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo in November. Trump hasn't ruled out a run but has been quiet on the subject in recent weeks. He's said repeatedly that he doesn't want to be involved in a primary.

Last week, Republican Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino declared his candidacy for governor.

Supporters of Trump see him as having the name recognition and money needed to successfully challenge Cuomo.
