Car crashes speeding away from police

Rochester, N.Y. -- Police are investigating a one-car crash that happened after the vehicle fled police on the citys northeast side Wednesday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. on North Goodman Street near Fernwood Avenue.

Police said they tried to stop the vehicle for traffic violations, but it sped away. Officers did not chase it, but found it after it crashed moments later.

They found the driver, Kevin Perales, 20, on a nearby porch. He and passenger Jemar Malana, 17, were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the car lost control negotiating a curve just north of Clifford Avenue, hit a pole and rolled over. The scene has been cleaned up and reopened for traffic.
