Batavia cemetery vandalized

Batavia, N.Y. - Around 25 headstones in a Batavia cemetery were knocked over, according to the cemetery superintendent.

Steve Davis, the superintendent of the Elmwood Cemetery and several others in the area, found the headstones disturbed Monday morning.

According to Davis, this cemetery has seen more vandalism lately.

"Every time it happens, it's like the first time. You never get used to it. When I come in and see this, my heart stops," said Davis.

Davis said he plans to take the issue to the Batavia Town Board, in hopes of receiving extra money from the state for the cemetery's upkeep.
