Man arrested for Wyoming Co. stabbing
Warsaw, N.Y. -- A Wyoming County man was recovering Monday morning after being stabbed early Sunday.
State police said the 23-year-old victim got into a "heated" argument with Richard Gross, 26, of Byron at a campsite around 4 a.m. Sunday in the town of Middlebury, leading to the stabbing.
The victim was driven to Wyoming County Community Hospital in a private vehicle. Police met the vehicle at the hospital and arrested Gross, who was also in the car. Troopers recovered a hunting knife believed to have been used in the incident.
The victim initially suffered a punctured lung and was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital. He was listed in satisfactory condition Monday.
Gross (pictured) was charged with first-degree assault and remanded to the Wyoming County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. The incident remained under investigation.
