166 dead, many trapped in Turkish coal mine

Ankara, Turkey (AP) -- The death toll from an explosion and fire at a coal mine in western Turkey has grown to 166.

Turkey's Energy Minister says 787 people were working inside the mine at the time of the accident. Some 200 people are still believed trapped inside the mine.

The minister says 80 mine workers were injured and at least four of them are in serious condition.

The mine is in Soma, about 155 miles from Istanbul.
