Disturbing testimony in Whittemore trial

Rochester, N.Y. -- Jurors heard graphic and disturbing testimony Thursday in the trial of the man accused of beating a College at Brockport student to death in her dorm room in 2012.

Police officers testified that Alexandra Kogut, 18, was beaten "beyond recognition" by her boyfriend, Clayton Whittemore, now 22, on Sept. 29, 2012.

Jurors watched video taken of the crime scene and saw photographs of her injuries and the clothing iron used in the attack

"There are pieces of a travel mug, pieces of an Old Spice can, you see the room covered in blood," said Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley. "It's important to see the devastation that was done to her and the items that he used."

Whittemore's attorneys didn't deny he was involved in the attack, but said he was suffering from an exreme emotional disturbance at the time.
