Study: 1 in 4 adolescents likely to get STD
Albany, N.Y. -- A new study showed one in four adolescents living in New York state is likely to get a sexually transmitted disease.
The findings were released Tuesday in the first ever New York State Youth Sexual Health Plan.
According to the study, by age 25, one in two sexually active New York state residents are likely to get an STD.
The most common sexually transmitted disease across the state was chlamydia.
The report also found there were more than 3,300 new cases of HIV in 2012, and one in five of those cases were in people under age 25.
