Rape suspect pleads guilty

Geneseo, N.Y. -- Larry Tuttle, 46, of Avon, plead guilty to first-degree rape Thursday morning in Livingston County.

The plea was part of an agreement in which he would serve 18 years in prison and give up his right to appeal.

Tuttle admitted in court to raping a girl under 13 years old in 2009.

That girl's father said the plea provides relief for a family that did not want to sit through and testify in a trial.

He added his daughter, now a teenager, is back at school and doing well.

Tuttle's attorney, Kevin Van Allen, said his client has expressed remorse and took the plea agreement to spare the family the pain of a trial.

After release, Tuttle will receive 20 years of post-release supervision.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 12.
