State Fair scraps piglets amid outbreak

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The New York State Fair will not feature any baby pigs this summer.

Organizers said thats because of a deadly virus spreading among piglets. The virus first appeared in the Midwest last spring and has since killed 5 million piglets across the country.

Adult male and female pigs will still be on display.

Officials said the disease affecting young pigs cant be transferred to people.

This years fair runs from Aug. 21 through Sept. 1 just outside Syracuse.
