Red Cross relief operations continue

Penn Yan, N.Y. The American Red Cross volunteers continue to provide assistance and relief to residents of Penn Yan on Saturday.

A shelter, opened Wednesday at the Penn Yan Academy on Court Street, remains active where residents who have been displaced by flooding can get water and food. Caseworkers are also available to assist families with recovery plans.

Residents who need clean up supplies can also retrieve them at the shelter, including: mops, buckets and bleach.

In addition to the shelter, the Red Cross has mobilized an Emergency Response Vehicle that will head across Yates County Saturday to deliver supplies to those in need.

Clean up kits will be distributed to those in need across the Finger Lakes region at the following locations and times:

Elm Street near Main Street, Penn Yan starting at 10 a.m.
Penn Yan Academy, 305 Court Street 9:30 a.m. 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday
Gowanda Fire Hall 230 Aldrich Street 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Randolph Fire Hall, 70 Main Street 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

The Red Cross asks that anyone who would like to donate to the Disaster Relief Fund can do so by calling 1-800-REDCROSS, visiting redcross.org, or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999. A $10 charge will automatically be added to your cell phone bill.
