Vargas to present East High plan

Rochester, N.Y. -- City School Superintendent Bolgen Vargas will present his plan for the future of East High School Tuesday night.

The district has until May 15 to present a plan to the State Education Department or risk closing.

Vargas plan is an alternative to the one presented by educational partnership organization School Turnaround. That groups proposal would put it in charge of the school and create block scheduling to improve students math, science and literacy skills.

The school board is scheduled to hold a special meeting Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the districts Central Office Building on West Broad Street.
