10 released from hospital after prison fire

Groveland, N.Y. Several corrections officers in Livingston County were released from the hospital Tuesday after a fire at the Groveland Correctional Facility Monday evening.

The fire started in the Peterson Academic School building in Groveland from a power cord attached to an air conditioning unit that short-circuited. There was minor damage to the building.

Ten workers were transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation. By 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, all had been released.

The fire occurred as first responders were participating in an emergency training exercise.
