Experts predict rough mosquito season

Avon, N.Y. -- The most recent winter has impacted more than just allergy season; it could make for a rough mosquito season.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation said melting snow banks, which lingered in April, could have caused more mosquitos to breed than normal.

Experts said that could also lead to a greater threat of mosquito spread diseases like West Nile Virus.

They said that insect repellant is the best defense.
