Marcell Dareus issues statement

Pittsford, N.Y. - Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus has issued a statement, having returned to the team for training camp at S. John Fisher College.

"Right now," he said in an address posted to the Bills' website, "my focus is on earning the trust of my teammates, coasches and the fans while continuing to improve as a football player. I have a passion for the game and want to be here to help this organization achieve its goals."

Dareus has suffered his share of problems during the off-season. He's facing drug charges in his home state of Alabama. He is trying to enroll in a drug counseling program which, if completed, would waive the charges.

He will also have to retake a conditioning test before joining the team on the field.
