Monroe County launches drunk driving app

Rochester, N.Y. - There's a new app to discourage drunk driving.

It’s called ‘Have a Plan.’ It was developed by the New York State Stop DWI Program. It rolled out in both Monroe and Livingston Counties Friday.

In it, you can store contacts for designated drivers or find a nearby cab company using your phone’s GPS location.

"You can have the contacts right away it makes it so there's no excuse at all to drink and drive," said Xavier Weisenreder when we showed him the app.

Other features of the app are a BAC calculator with a disclaimer that the numbers are only an estimate.

13WHAM found the taxi feature to be the most popular.

"The taxi, I think the taxi is probably the best aspect of it," said Patrick Holmes.
"I think it's really helpful," said Sarah Woloson. "I would definitely use the cab part because finding a can that's open and close is really difficult."

The app is free and can be downloaded on iPhones, Androids, and Windows phones. Just search ‘Have a Plan.’
