Adrianna Franch the latest rising star for the WNY Flash

Flash goalie Adrianna Franch didn't always want to be a keeper.

"I didn't like it," said Franch. "I was put in there, I was tall, I was athletic, that's usually the stereotype to put in goal."

Good thing for the Flash she changed her mind.

The rookie has been impressive all season long, perhaps never more so than Sunday in Portland, when she made save, after save, after save.

"She's done great," teammate Carli Lloyd said. "MVP goalkeeping if you ask me. She's come up with some huge saves, and she's just gotta keep it going. If she can keep going, she's got a shot at getting her feet wet on the national team."

That's high praise coming from an 8 year veteran of the national team, and two time olympic gold medalist.

And it doesn't stop there.

There's buzz growing about Franch with not just the Flash but around the game of soccer.

She hears it, but doesn't focus on it.

"I love the fans, keep it coming, but individually we got our team out here, nad that's what counts. As long as you're working hard, you never know what happens."

Franch admits that her long term goal is to one day protect the goal for the National Team, but a more immediate goal is to help lead the Flash back to the playoffs, and to another championship.
