Albers Becoming Red Wings' Ace

In 2009, Andrew Albers' baseball career looked bleak.

Having just undergone Tommy John surgery, the Canadian pitcher was cut by the San Diego Padres organization, forcing the lefty to sign on with the Quebec Capitales of the Independent Can-Am Association.

But in 2011, everything changed. Albers was signed by the Minnesota Twins and since, has mowed through the minor leagues on both domestic and international stages.
