Red Wings complete sweep of Rail Riders, 7-6

The Rochester Red Wings picked up their third win in two nights thanks to a 7-6 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Rail Riders on Wednesday night at Frontier Field.

Deibenson Romero and Dan Rohlfing each had two RBI for Rochester, which had 15 hits as a team.

With the win, Rochester improved to 3-2 ahead of a four game series at Lehigh Valley.

Trailing 4-2 entering the bottom of the fourth, the Wings patched together a rally, scoring runs on a groundout and a bases loaded walk.

An RBI single from Rohlfing in the fifth gave Rochester a 5-4 lead. James Beresford's RBI double in the sixth made it 6-4. Chris Parmelee followed with an RBI single of his own to make it 7-4.

The Rail Riders would answer with two runs in the eighth, but Deolis Guerra and Brooks Raley helped shut the door.

One concern for the Red Wings however is the performance of pitcher Scott Diamond. The Wings opening day starter struggled for the second straight outing. Diamond allowed four runs on eight hits in three-plus innings of work. He walked one and struck out two.
